Case Study: How Did This Dropshipping Store Make 6 Figures A Month Without Facebook Ads

Most of the dropshipping businesses are marketing on Facebook and Instagram, spending a lot of money and time figuring out how to bring traffic and conversion through Facebook Ads - but Warmly chose another route.

Established in 2018, Warmly is a dropshipping business that sells mostly high-ticket items like furniture, lighting, and other modern home decor accessories on its website. The site was made on Shopify, which they didn’t bother to hide from us (the footer simply says it all).

According to an estimate by Salesource, Warmly’s revenue lands somewhere in between $566,000 and $1,132,000 per month. That’s a whopping six to seven figures a month! But the best part is, they don’t even spend money and time on Facebook. If we go to their Facebook Page, there are only three posts - a post of them updating their profile picture, another when they updated their cover photo, and lastly when they updated their website address. That’s all! No content, no interactions, no nothing - at least nothing major that will bring leads to their site.

There are also ZERO ad results on Facebook Ad Library from Warmly.

So you ask, how do they bring traffic to their site?

Pinterest.

According to SimilarWeb, Warmly’s marketing strategy is focused on Social with 61.21% of its traffic coming from social media, and 99.87% of it is from Pinterest.

99.87%! That means basically all of their website leads are from Pinterest.

Let’s take a look at how they achieve this through Pinterest. Warmly has 83.4k followers and received more than 10 million monthly views across their pins. They use high-quality images and cohesive color tons across their page.

We have split their content into four different segments.

1. Discounts and Deals

Almost 50% of their content includes discounts on their images. According to Hootsuite, almost 9 in 10 people use Pinterest for purchase inspiration, and 98% of people say they try new things based on what they find. In that case, having discounts to help drive impulse purchase decisions.

2. Easy Navigation - Category

Warmly stores their pins by different categories, these categories link directly to the right landing page on their website. When you see a pin that you like, you’ll be sent to the right category to browse more related products.

3. CTA - Shop What You See

47% of Social media users saw Pinterest as the platform for discovering and shopping for products. Warmly knows that its potential customers are oftentimes here for inspiration on new decor ideas or things you might want to add to your home improvement shopping list.

We all struggle sometimes when seeing something we like on Pinterest but are unable to purchase the exact same product. Warmly has all these CTA images that will send you directly to the product page of what you were just looking at.

4. Slogans

Warmly use the different slogans to target different audiences, they continuously promote their business as high-quality furniture at an affordable price. To achieve this, their images use words like “luxury/luxurious”, “...for less” to indulge users to convert through their site.

They Know What They’re Doing.

When it comes to marketing, Warmly definitely knows what they’re doing, home decor is one of the top ten trending searches on Pinterest. 45% of US Pinterest users are with a household income over $100K.

Choosing to bring traffic through Pinterest instead of other social media differentiates them from other competitors and brings out the luxurious, high-class identity that they want to create. Also note that their logos are across all images they own, so even when a Pinterest user shares it or pins it, they will still see the origin without needing to check the image details.

Something special about Pinterest is that any URL you link to your store from a pin, it’s considered as a backlink. This might explain why besides Pinterest, 87.63% of their traffic from search is organic, through the backlinks from Pinterest, they’ve actually boosted their SEO score. That’s a win-win situation right there!

Exquisite Branding Strategy

- Sleek Website Design

At first glance, you’ll find it hard to see their brand as a dropshipping business. Professional high-quality images, unlike general dropship products that are normally shot with a white backdrop, Warmly add the products into a setting. This helps customers to envision themselves using the product and increase the chance for them to convert.

- 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed Refund Policy

Besides offering free shipping to all items, they’ve created their own refund policy which they named “Our No-Nonsense Return & Refund Policy”. Warmly ensures that all their customers are happy with the product, if otherwise, they can always return and get a refund (Warmly even pay for the return shipping fees!) As they sell high ticket items ranging from $20 to $1500, I wouldn’t expect anything less.

What can we learn from Warmly?

- Understand Your Niche

Know your target audience and where they might hang out online. Run ads on the right social media to reach your potential customers.

- Perfecting Your Product Images

For a business to go long and far, it’s vital that you make your site legit, and one way to achieve it is to stop using the images from your suppliers. Spend some time taking your own professional photos to differentiate yourself from your competitors.

- Store Design Matters

I’m sure by now you’ve realized how important it is to have a beautiful site for your dropshipping business. Warmly put a huge effort into making their site reputable and align to their brand identity.
