Heat-Transferred Labels That Will Transform Your Dropshipping Business

We at Ship To The Moon are constantly looking for new branding ideas and products to take our clients’ business to the next level. We’ve come across a shirt label/logo video and thought that it could bring great value to our clients, so we’ve decided to test them out. The results are great, watch the video on how we tested the labels here.

We put the label through four different tests and on three different materials stimulating the cycle of a piece of clothing.

The four tests that we experiment the labels on:

1. The Wash Test
2. The Rub Test
3. The Stretch Test
4. The Scratch Test

Here’s what we’ve prepared:

。 Yoga pants - nylon and spandex
。 Bathing suit bottom - polyester and spandex
。 Plain T-shirt - cotton

Applying The Label

Normally this step is done with an industrial heat press machine, but in this experiment, we used iron instead.

Step 1. Place the label on the fabric.

Step 2. Heat-press the label onto the fabric.

Step 3. Peel off the lamination film.

There you have it, as simple as that.

Experiment & Results

The Wash Test

A clothing piece generally goes through more than a hundred-wash in its life cycle, to find out if the label will get washed off easily, we’ve washed it five times. Keep in mind, during the wash the clothes get soaked, swirled around, and spin-dried (that centrifugal pull).

The results: Turns out the labels were just as fine as when we freshly ironed it onto the clothing - no disappeared edges, no crumbling.

The Rubbing Test

We’ve all been through that day when we accidentally spilled coffee or dropped food on our shirts. Besides regretting, all we want to do is to get the shirt off to spot wash as soon as possible. That’s why we went through this rubbing test, you wouldn’t want your brand logo or design to get rubbed off just because your customer has to spot wash that area eh?

The results: Just like the wash test, the label is still in tacked and there’s no discoloring after the repeated rubbing.

The Stretch Test

Do you know how your clients remove their clothes? Or do you know how they hang them? We don’t and we believe you don’t either. In order to make sure no matter how the clothing is stretched, the label won’t come off, we stretch the fabric as hard as we can for a whole minute (yes, that means pulling the fabric from side to side like there’s no tomorrow) We might overdo it, but we prefer to introduce an actual working product.

The results: The material of the label is super stretchy, it expands with the material itself, so it doesn't crumble.

The Scratch Test

Now at this point, we were just coming up with ways trying to just at least get a peel-off or a scratch on the label. So we scratched the label with a coin, a key and a credit card for one minute. When we said scratch we meant it (my arms were sore the next day from putting so much strength into this part of the experiment).

And the results? What can we say, these labels are super durable. After all four experiments, the label literally acts as nothing has happened before. No scratches, no patchy feeling and no peel-offs.
